Can I get a copper coil as emergency contraception?
The copper coil (copper IUD) is a very effective method of emergency contraception, and is more effective than morning after pills at preventing pregnancy if inserted in the first five days after unprotected sex.
Unfortunately, the copper coil is not used as an emergency contraceptive in Malta due to restrictive laws on abortion.
