I have missed a mini pill (POP). Can I use a morning after pill?
Please note this article only applies to mini pills (also known as progestogen-only pills or POPs). If you use the more popular combined pills (ie: any contraceptive pill in Malta that is not Lamya or Cerazette) read
this article instead.
If you are more than twelve hours late in taking a desogestrel-based mini pill (also known as progesterone-only pill, and sold under the brand names Lamya and Carazette), your protection against pregnancy may be reduced and you should consider taking a morning after pill if you had sex in the previous seven days.
If you have used the morning after pills Levonelle or Escapelle, you should restart the mini pill within twelve hours. If you use the morning after pill EllaOne, you should wait five days before restarting the mini pill.
Once you restart the mini pill, you should use condoms for the next two days.
